The male kestrel is usually searching insect at the top of a telegraph pole near the pond.

紅隼
最近 在池塘旁边，一只雄的紅隼常常在电线杆上寻找昆虫。

チョウゲンボウ（雄）
最近いつも、雄のチョウゲンボウが池のほとりで電柱の上から昆虫を狙っています。

Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus)
There is a group of dove resting on the roof of the building. Then one Peregrine Falcon sometimes dives to hunt them. I have seen the falcon chasing the game across my garden recently.
I watched the moment a falcon succeed hunting a dove last year, falcon gets game with diving and attacking rapidly. So when it chases around, it hardly succeed.

游隼
在大厦屋顶的地方有一群鸽子。偶尔一只游隼向那儿飞过去，捕获鸽子。最近我看过那游隼在我的庭院越过追赶一群鸽子。
去年，我看到游隼捕做措的那一瞬间，游隼飞快的接近，而且扑过去抓住。所以游隼当追赶的时候，多半不成功。

隼
ビルの屋上にハトが群れています。時々そこをめがけて一羽のハヤブサが飛び込んで狩りをします。先日は家の庭を横切って追いかけていきました。
去年はハヤブサが狩りに成功した瞬間をみましたが、ハヤブサは急降下をして獲物を捕らえました。なので追いかけ回している時は、大抵成功しません。

Little Grebe (Podiceps ruficollis)
At the end of June, I found a Little Grebe's nest at the water edge of the pond. There were two eggs in it.
At the beginning of July, a pair of adult birds and three young birds swam together on the pond. One of young ones rode on its parent's back. Young Little Grebe is very small and black.

小鷿鷈
六月末，我在池塘水边看到小鷿鷈的巢，这里两个卵有。
七月初旬，两只小鷿鷈和三只雏鸟一起游泳。一只雏鸟在一只亲鸟的背上登着。小鷿鷈的雏鸟很小和黑色的。

６月の終わり頃、池の水際でカイツブリの巣を見つけました。巣の中には卵が２つありました。
７月の初めには、カイツブリの親鳥２羽とヒナ３羽がいっしょに泳いでいました。ヒナの１羽は親鳥の背中に乗っていました。ヒナはとても小さくて黒いです。

Little Tern (Sterna albifrons)
On June 27th evening, a flight of Little Tern came across to the port. However, the wind blew hard, they flied through and against the wind well. Then they dived into the sea one after another to catch sardine or mackerel. It was first time I found Little Tern here, Awaji island.

白额燕鸥
六月二十七日黄昏，一群白额燕鸥在海港飞到。风刮得大，不过它们可能顶风飞翔。而且向海面接二连三地落下，捕获沙丁鱼也鰺。在淡路岛，这是我的初次看到白额燕鸥。

小鯵刺
６月２７日の夕方コアジサシの群れが港にやってきました。風の強い日でしたが、上手く風に乗ったり風を切ったりして飛んでいました。次々に海に飛び込んでイワシやアジを捕まえていました。私が淡路島でコアジサシを見たのはこれが初めてです。

Mustela itashi
On the path of the mountain, one Japanese Weasel approached toward me without any caution, as if it was enjoying rambling around. The golden fur shined brilliant against the sun.

日本鼬
在一条山路上，一只日本鼬向我靠拢来的。它一点儿也不怕人，犹如享乐散步。它的体毛金闪亮了。

日本鼬（イタチ）
山道でニホンイタチがこちらに向かって歩いて来ました。あまり警戒もせず、まるで散歩でもするように。毛並みが金色に美しく輝いていました。

Ninox scutulata
Brown hawk owl is a kind of owl as the same size as a dove, migrates to Japan in early summer, then starts breeding in the big camphor tree. I found one in Kyoto. It looked down me with yellow round eyes in the bush of fresh green leaves.

鹰鸮
鹰鸮是和鸽子大的一种鸮，初夏里到日本飞来的候鸟，它们在很大的老樟树上筑巢繁殖。我在京都看到一只鹰鸮。在很漂亮新绿的樟树上，它睁圆一双眼睛，俯视我。

青葉木菟
アオバズクはハトくらいの大きさのフクロウで、初夏に日本に渡って来て、大きな楠などで巣を作り、繁殖をします。私は京都で観察することができました。鮮やかな新緑の中で、丸い金色の目で私を見下ろしていました。

Porzana fusca
Ruddy-breasted Crake always hides in the glass of the riverside, it is difficult to find it. But occasionally, it shows up suddenly from the place they has been hiding, then it surprises me. On this day, one Ruddy-breasted Crake appeared from the glass then bathed in the river even before my eyes for a moment.

红胸田鸡
红胸田鸡因为平常很少看到的水鸟，所以它们常常河边的草丛里藏身着。但是，有很稀的它们突然从草丛里走出来的时候，我很吃惊了。这天，在我的眼前，一只红胸田鸡淋浴一会儿。

緋水鶏
ヒクイナはいつも川辺の草むらに隠れているので、あまり見る事ができませんが、たまに突然草むらから出て来て私を驚かせます。この時は私の目の前で暫くの間、水浴びをしていました。

Cinnamomum camphora
This is a big ancient Camphor tree of a shrine. It was on a spring day, several kinds of birds visited by turns. This tree may be a doorway connecting town part and forest area, or a border of sea district and mountains. From the winter to the spring, birds drop by and pass it.

樟树
一春天，种种的鸟来到神社的大老樟树的地方接二连三了。这棵树犹如大门在街和森林之间，还是境界在海滨的地方和山的地方之间。从冬天到春天，很多的鸟来访过去。

楠
春のある日、神社の楠の大木に次々と小鳥がやって来ました。種類は様々です。この木はまるで街と森をつなぐ門、もしくは海辺と山間にある境界のようです。冬から春へ鳥達が立ち寄っては通り過ぎて行くのです。

Hirundo rustica
I found three swallows flying above the sky, it is my first watching this year. The last year's first watching day was March 21th. Their visit make me really happy this year due to the awful disaster.

家燕
我看到了天空上三只家燕飞行的。这是我的今年初次看的。去年是三月二十一日。今年，我感到它们的来临特别高兴，所以可怕的自然灾害。

燕
今日、三羽のツバメが飛んでいるのを見ました。今年初めてです。去年は三月二十一でした。今年は恐ろしい災害があったので、ツバメの訪れを本当にうれしく感じます。

Falco tinnunculus
In winter, they often land on the cultivated land or meadow, then catch grasshoppers. Having a glimpse of the field, there aren't any animals, but in fact, there are many insects hiding among the grass during winter.

冬天，在耕地和草丛处，紅隼常常降到地面捕捉飞蝗。一看就想在这儿里什么生物也没有，实际上，很多的昆虫在草之间潜藏过冬。

長元坊
チョウゲンボウは小型の鷹です。冬はよく耕地や草地に降りてバッタを取っています。一見そこには生き物が何もいないように見えますが、実際はたくさんの昆虫が隠れて冬越しをしているのです。
